I live in New York state near the coast, and my wife and I share a co-op. I'm usually somewhat left of center, but I try to think things through and not parrot anybody's party line. The Political Cat links to a blog about a protest less warblogged than the Berkley one. Perhaps this is because the atypical Berkley protest does show hostility to the military, while the Michigan protest blogged at Wyan.blog is full of 'support our troops - bring them home' signs.
