The Lebanese government is funded by cellular phones?!
But the government is not interested in having decent cellular connections. The majority of the government's operating budget is accrued not through taxes, tariffs, or tourism, but through hefty prices on mobile phones. In fact, the entire telecom industry - internet and all - is being stymied by government mismanagement. The government will not approve high speed internet and competition between companies that would drive installation prices down for use in Lebanon because it would diminish cellular use, and that would deplete the government operating budget.
They could at least put heavy taxes on high speed internet so they would have incentives to tax rather than repress them.
